For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then I shall know even as I have been known.”             I Corinthians 13:12

Confessions of a Contemporary Prophet is a travelogue beginning with a young boy raised by his mother.  He discovers that he drinks life in deep gulps and experiences things others do not encounter.  Boyhood leads to college, college to the business world, the business world to the seminary, and the seminary to the life of the pastor.  Laced through it all are supernatural experiences expressed in premonitions, dreams, and head on collisions with evil.

The following is taken from my forward to this book:  There are three great Lights.  The Light of nature which is given to all.  The Light of grace shining from God’s true church allowing the Saints to see God in His love despite the brokenness of creation.  Finally, there is the Light of Glory that shines in heaven.  The Apostle Paul understood that in this life we see the magnificence of God and His work only dimly.  The Bible is like the moon, reflecting, but not fully capturing, the greatness of God.

I have sought to chart the course of my life by the Bible.  It is God’s truth.  It does not show me everything.  There is much that remains in the shadows.  This is especially true when it comes to my private, intuitive life.  Here I sail alone on a great sea at night.  The light of the moon beams down from above, cascading light over ink-black water.  I feel the aloneness.  I’m not sure where I’m heading.  God’s Word doesn’t spell out the particulars of my life or the lives of my family and friends.

Yet I sail on.  The glory of God’s veiled kingdom is reflected in the Light of Jesus and of the Word that shines about Jesus. I strain working the rigging and tackle of my journey.  Sometimes I lay back placing my hand down to glide through the water.  I enjoy the sounds of life that call from a distant shore.  I find comfort in my family and friends.  Yet it is to the end, Jesus caught in the light of reflected Glory, who knows me best and is the Captain of my sails.

This little books is more than a journey, it is a theological reflection on life that sides with the Bible as a revelation true and certain.  Its pages reveal battlefields.  Wars are fought within the mind, within the heart, and within the culture.  And finally, perhaps the most deadly trap for the Christian pilgrim is openly displayed.
